Fun show - loved the discussion!

A lot of fun listening to the banter. Leaving out water misses a huge part of the experience. Even a few drops can help increase the flavour profile and add that complexity… but obviously we all have different palates and preferences.

Vegas local... Frankie's is my favorite. Frankie's is if you like dive bars. golden Tiki is if you like spectacle. Drinks are better at Frankie's. Golden tiki is if you like to take pictures for IG.

Thanks for the show! Given the current tiki revival, I feel like there will be an increasing demand for such content explaining the nature and history of PNG/Sepik masks vs. Hawaiian, Maori, Fijian, Balinese, Indonesian, etc. masks as more people seek them out and want to learn more. Keep up the good work!

Wow what an amazing history of old tiki bars in LA. I remember going to Bahooka’s as a kid with my family in the early 1990’s / late 1980’s. We would go for its restaurant, they served huge servings of good Polynesian type food. Really hoping Clifton’s opens their bars again soon!

Love this movie! Best horror soundtrack. I listen to it whenever I’m illustrating monsters. I believe the costume designer based the look of Dracula off of Gustav Klimt artwork. I agree, this is my favorite Dracula!

Excellent and refreshing conversation. There is way too much "that isn't on the chart of what is officially Tiki so you're not allowed to like it" out there. The BEST THING about home Tiki spaces (and good public bars) is their unique and personal touch.

Great discussion. I especially like the mention of the progression from first getting into tiki and not really knowing what you're doing, then progressing to WITCO, PNG Sepik pieces, and before you know it you've got a museum.

It's good watching this not distracted. I can't wait to watch the women take over this chat next year. Heather has so much good stuff to talk about.

I remember Trader Vic's well. The Westin Hotel wasn't far from where I worked at 7th & Olive. I still have a memento from going there.

I always related peacock chairs to the original Morticia. So funny now that im into tiki to see so many of them.

At this point i truly feel they ruined Goo Goo Muck. I agree, thats awesome they showed the younger generation but the younger generations over play things so bad that now i have to turn it when i hear it because im so tired of hearing it.

They should have went with the show Gomez and not the cartoon look. Its too distracting because hes so gross. I dont think that dude has ever played a normal dude. Its always discusting pervs.

I did not think i was going to like the show Wednesday but I did. Idk if i should be embarrassed or embrace it. 😂

Wednesday was sweet and innocent and the weird stuff was just normal to her, thats how she was raised. The movie made her evil and sadistic. Im not a fan of the movies. They didnt stick to the original.

This episode really hit me. Im an active drinker on Fri evenings and Saturdays. You made good points because i get invited to stuff on Sundays and dont drink so to drink this would be a good alternative so i still look like im drinking but really im just hydrating from the night before. Or even in between drinks on Saturdays, hubby alwsyd complains i dont drink enough water. Great idea and episode. I love when i find new ideas.

Ive always been considered Gothabilly and within the last couple years have added some tiki to that which has been fun. Me and my husband could talk to you both for hours. So glad we found this group. Finally people that we can relate with. 🖤

Frankie’s and Red Dwarf have affordable tiki mugs and their so cool too. Golden Tiki have good ones but so much more.

100% go to both. It's tradition everytime we go to Vegas. I will say when responding to that question, if your sensitive to the smell of smoke, you may need to skip Frankie's. The drinks are so good and worth the stench of smoke to me but some people I've taken just couldn't handle it. Especially when people are actively smoking nearby. I've never been to Golden Tiki and been around or smelled smoke. The Golden Tiki bathroom is a must see 😂.

Over half of the tiki bars I go to here in southern CA have a list of non-alcoholic cocktails. Some of them are really good! If I have to drive I’ll just get 1 alcoholic cocktail and then finish with a non-alcoholic one. Makes it easier to still enjoy the tiki experience with a tropical drink in your hand.

Great discussion. It’s now 10 months after your video, and I’ve seen multiple new Tiki bars or Tiki themed speakeasies pop up here in So. California area from San Diego to Los Angeles. The younger generations are definitely getting into immersive dark-themed bars, Tiki being one of them. It’s going to grow like crazy.
